Mokhovaya (Moss) Tower of Sumskoy Stockaded Fort

The exposition is devoted to the history of the fort and its role in the defense of North Russian maritime country-side (Pomor’ye) from the end of XVI to the beginning of the XVIII century. The visitors will learn the history of restored items as well as about the construction process and every-day life of builders and guardsmen at the fort.

On the first level of the tower you will see a reconstruction of a “red” (beautiful) corner and various homeware and learn about the life of the servicemen who guarded the fort.
At the second level you will find documents on the tower’s history as well as military clothes, ammunition and arms, all reconstructed after XVII century authentic prototypes.
At the upper third level there is an exposition telling about the defense system in North Russia.
