]The genre of spiritual verse occurs in Russia from time out of mind. Its main function is combination of the world of Christian book with the world of folk customs, and interpretation of complicated texts through the familiar language. In our time, the genre of spiritual verse endures a rebirth.

Today, the spiritual verse occurs in different forms and there are traditions of performance.

Programs of the Festival concerts will include spiritual verses of 17th-20th centuries that will be performed by four ensembles from Moscow and Moscow region.
